The glorious gift to men that is the Gilet.
gilet frodsham

We took this shot in Castle Park Frodsham Cheshire on a Saturday afternoon, with the sky and weather in autumnal mood. The rain did not dampen the spirits and enabled the gilet to reveal its practical qualities. A light synthetic-down gilet will pack neatly into a small ball, saving space and weight in a work or weekend bag. When it comes to versatility, the gilet should be plain and neutral in colour (black or charcoal grey), so that you can easily incorporate it into various looks. Styled with a hoodie and jeans it remains casual and warm. Worn over a shirt, opened-up or closed, with a T-shirt layer underneath, and chinos, you get a going-out look. By removing weight and puffiness and concentrating on cut, the flattering fit of a lightweight gilet means it can be worn like a waistcoat, without adding unnecessary bulk to your attractive silhouette! Styled by *Ciaran, over a hoodie, the versatility of our little two-tone number should not be underestimated. The fact that the gilet is sleeveless means that wearing it over, for example, a jumper means you stay warm and have real freedom of manoeuvre, and that big old overcoat can stay in the wardrobe for a while longer.

*A big thanks to Ciaran for agreeing to be one of the models for this shoot. Ciaran is a carpenter by trade and loved wearing this clobber-he said it was just the kind of thing he would wear given the conditions. The weather was grim, and he still managed to keep his smile going throughout, in spite of the fact that his beloved Irish rugby union team had lost that morning to Japan in the RU World Cup!
